It’s been an interesting week in the reflexology world. We’d mentally geared up to go back to work as of 4th July, but it wasn’t to be. After the disappointment subsided, I’ve slipped in to Plan D.72ii after Plans A – D.72i fell by the wayside. I’ve made the decision that my face-to-face offerings won’t be reopening until at least the second of half of August. Or whenever the ‘government’ decide. This will enable me to get a permanent, sole-use (geddit?) treatment room ready. And more personally, I’ll be able to visit vulnerable family members as a safe ‘bubble’.
I cannot say this has been the easiest time to be self-employed. Being a business that is based on touching people’s feet and hanging round with lovely groups is challenging to say the least. I’ve written before about how much reflexology means to me. I’ve spent a fair bit of time in the doldrums.
As a silver lining though, I have had the most amazing support and bits and pieces of work from all over the place. The attendees of my Mindful Mondays have been fabulous. Emma Garwood at The Missus has been a small business hero. Doing bit and pieces for TherapyAid has kept me out of trouble and sane.
It hasn’t all been doldrums and business ‘pivoting’, which I think is the technical term. When we do eventually go back to work, I’ll have some new things on offer. I recently completed Sally Kay’s inspirational Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) course. The RLD protocol specialises in treating clients with lymphoedema, as well as inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. I’ll be doing a separate post about this when I’ve completed my case study.
I’m also developing my hand reflexology practice. It’s something I used to be a bit scared of. You can feel a bit awkward at first as you are basically sitting face-to-face, holding hands with a stranger. Living with a guitarist who is a bit obsessed with looking after his hands has made me see it in a new light. It’s not just the poor relation to traditional reflexology, but a stand-alone treatment with masses of benefits for people who work with their hands. I feel another blog post coming on…
Anyway, I’ve rambled as per usual, but what I’m trying to say that I’m missing you all, feet, hands and faces and when I can start up safely for everyone, I will, with bells on…
